Bloom test is a test which can be used to measure strength of gel or gelatin.
The test determines the weight (in grams) needed by a probe (normally with a diameter of 0.5 inch) to deflect the surface of the gel 4 mm without breaking it. (oh, until now I still unable to get a video)


Then, bloom strength can be determined. Commercial value of gelatin increases with increasing Bloom.




Here are some photos I took yesterday from Langkawi.
I saw duty free marshmallow there and for the halal type, "Beef gelatin" stated in the ingredient label.
